Abstract

The article highlights the importance of making Karl Raimund Popper’s works available to readers in Ukrainian translation, and outlines Popper’s main views on the meaning of philosophy, its method and subject area, which were formulated in the prefaces to the first German and first English editions of the work The Logic of Scientific Discovery and in the article «How I Understand Philosophy» in the context of the discussion with the main schools of analytical philosophy of that time. It also discusses the correlation of these views with the trends in the further development of analytical philosophy (departure from the guidelines of the «linguistic turn», and the «metaphysical turn»). The author specifies main difficulties and problems that arose in the process of translating these texts, and explains the solutions proposed.
