Abstract

The paper clarifies specific features of historical and philosophical studies of the Institute of Philosophy of Ukrainian Academy of Sciences in the 80s. Analyzing the archive materials, author reconstructs historical and philosophical studies of the Institute. The investigation reveals that in the Soviet period philosophy was substantially subordinated to the Communist Party platform; as a result, historical and philosophical studies could not fully develop. However, the period of “Perestroika” (restructuring) of the Soviet state had also become the “restructuring” of domestic philosophy. At this time new areas of research emerge: philosophy of Kievan Rus’ and communicative philosophy. Studies theretofore commenced, like phenomenology, philosophy of life, existentialism, neo-Freudianism, theoretical concepts of industrial and postindustrial society, postmodern, also continued to develop rapidly. Several lines of research were established that are relevant and continue to develop in our time.
