Cordial understanding in the presence of greatness of the university: Annual Conference [ba|sees] (2–4 April 2016, Cambridge, United Kingdom)
Keywords:
«comfort zone», reason, cordiality, production of presence of mind, university, collegeAbstract
The article provides analysis of the annual conference [ba|sees] — British association for Slavic and East European studies, held at Cambridge University in April this year. Participation in international academic events did not become routine for Ukrainian philosophers yet, and therefore it requires considerable efforts, in particular leaving our academic «comfort zone». The latter is considered here not as a psychological phenomenon, but in the context of institutionally enshrined practices, conserving inertia and blocking reforms in the Ukrainian academic sphere. Atmosphere of the conference is revealed through the phenomenon of cordiality, considered a factor of furthering mutual understanding in academic community and increasing production of presence of mind.
