Weber's legacy: at the crossroads of traditions

Authors

Abstract

1. Were the philosophical influences on the formation of Max Weber's social theory decisive or secondary? If determinants, then which of them, in your opinion, was the most important?
2. How would you characterize Max Weber's philosophical position? Does it belong to a particular philosophical current, several philosophizing directions, or a completely original own philosophical position?
3. What philosophical critique of the theoretical position of Max Weber do you consider the most exciting and constructive? What were the consequences of this criticism?
4. What ideas of Max Weber influenced the development of philosophy in the twentieth century? Which of the prominent philosophers after Weber owed in his formation to these ideas and to what extent?
5. Which work by Max Weber is most important to you personally and why?
6. Can we say that some certain classical socio-philosophical concepts and problems derive from Max Weber's theory? Do you find references to Max Weber in modern scientific research?
7. Can we say those specific problems raised by Weber and his actualized concepts - rationality of behavior, motivation and legitimacy, ethics of responsibility, ethos, etc. - are still not fully clarified? Accordingly, can it be said that Max Weber's influence on philosophy development is not yet complete?
8. Is it possible, in your opinion, to identify in Max Weber's texts conceptual solutions that have not previously been properly assessed and developed, and accordingly, is a new "Weber renaissance" possible?
