Silence of intellectuals

The paper deals with civic position of an intellectual in conditions of significant historical transformations. Great historical events inspired thinkers of the past for great ideas, their influence being felt even now. Instead, in the situation of challenges to the present liberal civilization, in particular, reanimation of the Russian imperial project, which has posed the world on the brink of global opposition, we have faced the Philistine silence of western intellectuals and, first of all, European ones. Their voices lapsed into silence in the socalled period of post-modern with its industrialized cynicism and an outbreak of the loss of meaning.
